Reading of Spencer Smith's adaptation of Svetlana Alexievich's award winning book, "Voices from Chernobyl" about the worstnon-military nuclear disaster in history -- the melt down of\ the Ukrainian nuclear plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine on April 26, 1986. The short, readers' theater play weaves together true stories told by survivors of that nuclear meltdown that occurred only forty miles north of Kyiv, thecapitol, and city of three million people. Over 485 villages had to be abandoned forever. Even today approx. 2.1 millionpeople, (including 700,000 children) live on contaminated land and still suffer the health consequences of radiation exposure.
